It drives most of my tent stakes and has batoned a time or two when I've been without a proper splitting tool. I had to reshape the tip after I loaned it to somebody and it came back missing a piece. I don't know if he was using it as a screwdriver or trying to stick it in the ground where there were rocks, but I was pissed either way. Sharpen it at a 25 degree angle then convex it just a bit and it'll take a good enough edge to cut tomatoes and hold it fucking forever.
Anybody afraid of a rat-tail tang is either a fool, someone who bought a cheap shitty one, or someone planning to thoroughly abuse a knife.
