Bought Icebreaker Oasis 260 (18.9 microns 100% Merino) a few years ago for 200 Euro for top and bottom and it is by far the best baselayer I ever used. I wear it all day and during sports and when hiking and when skiing and all night when sleeping and there is zero wear yet. Plus zero itching! My North Face 50% Poly 50% Merino trash that I use when it is in the washer is frying after minimal use and itches like a bitch, plus feels thin. Can highly recommend Icebreaker if you wanna spend money on baselayer! When hiking below 0 °C, I wear a 100% Merino sweater by chinkshit brand Charles Thyrwhitt. Its very thick and when on sale its as cheap as its gonna get for buying Merino. Its trash quality though and fries on the collar and on the hand openings so it itches now. Especially when not wearing base layer under it. But very warm!!!!!!!!!! There is a great sweater guide in /fa/ Prep Trad Ivy thread for both USA and Europe with brand list and prices, they have top tier sweaters 100% virgin wool very natural non-washable but god tier quality straight from grandpas farm and also Chinkshit washable Merino 100% at reasonable prices. God tier unwashable lamb wool stuffies starties at 200-300 Euros and go to 500. Chinkshit 100% Merino you can get starting at 60 Euro for sufficiently heavy models. Trash business sweaters are cheaper but too thin for winter! They are like a second base layer. Useless! I will ask my girlfriend to buy me one of these Shetland wool eco homo sweaters Guru Kumbaya Scotland thingers for very expensive money so I can stay warm when under 0°C but not now! Later I will, maybe tomorrow! But itchy when it is lamb wool and not merino ...
