How difficult is Mt. Whitney? I am definitely fit enough to do the numbers (22 miles roundtrip with 6,500~ ft of elevation gain) but the altitude concerns me a bit. I got pretty sick once at 8,000 ft and that sucked balls.
Do I need to do any high elevation training for Whitney or can I just yolo it and go slow and be fine? Should I spent a week in big bear running every day?
