Being able to flip about a city to arrange food, shelter or a job is just so much easier on a bike,
At night you can bike far away from other homeless (your biggest threat) to sleep.
Try to get a good bike but make it look shit and get a real good bike lock (like a motorbike lock). One that if you locked your bike up to a lamppost for a few days you know it would be there when you came back.
