>>2248884I’ve seen those on the little freshwater fish pamphlets and FWC website but haven’t caught them anywhere around Broward-Dade-Palm Beach. The Mayan cichlids are much more common and Jaguar cichlids in a couple spots. Seen some of those bright orange Midas cichlids as well.
Posted it before, but supposedly oscars used to be the common one around here. I guess some years ago there was a cold stretch in the winter and the water temps dropped too low for the oscars to survive and the Mayans took over after that.
Talkin to some old black guy at these lakes I fish, one day he was talking about all the crappie he catches, and I can’t figure out if there are actually crappie around here or maybe that’s what they called the Mayans. Never caught or seen a crappie out of the dozens and dozens of spots I have been to.
