It technically requires more fuel per boil than a similar sized pot made of a more conductive material. Although this amount of extra fuel is relatively small. However, the weight savings of the material is so significant that the calculus works out.
If you're still really worried for some odd reason just cover the handles in some polymer like you have pictured. Some .125" x .250" silicone tubing would work well.
