>>2087679>great whiteI had just moved up to Newcastle (AUS) for work back in Janree this year and decided one day to head to the beach.
Within the last couple weeks there were I think 3 shark attacks in the area, one nasty bite, one lost leg, and one death in Lake Macquarie (a harbour just south of Newcastle beach).
Anyway, I got to the beach around 9am that day and instead of going straight into the surf I went to the ocean baths (I'm not a good swimmer) and just as I was getting my feet whett the lifesavers were scrambling getting everyone out of the water because their drone had spotted a 3m shark, possibly the one responsible for one or all of the recent attacks. So I wandered out to the shoreline and stood on the edge with about 40 other people looking around for a shark, and like poetry this gigantic great white just lolled past in the shallows. They reopened the beaches only like 2 hours later but there were never any other attacks.
It was beautiful and seemed really out of place for some reason, blue ocean with this big grey fish cutting through super slow and lazy
