Pic related. I've been using a backpack just like this for years now, inherited it from a relative who used to do a lot of rugged traveling abroad
To be honest I mainly use it for sentimental reasons and because I personally think it looks nice, however I can't say it's ever failed me thus far
It's actually quite comfortable. I might just be saying that because I've never really used a modern hiking backpack, but if it were a pain in the ass to carry I would've stopped using it a long time ago. Like I said before I'm not carrying a ton of gear on me, so I don't have a need to buy an enormous backpack.
Though when I really get into wild camping and long-distance backpacking, I'll be sure to pick up a sufficient pack.
