>>2110382I'm planning on doing similar things around Europe. Bought all kind of bikepacking bags from Aliexpress and bought fabrics and materials to build my own custom frame bag (I have a lot of space inside the frame as you can see on the pic so that's gonna be a nice piece of kit). Way cheaper than having it made by pros and sewing is a nice skill to learn.
I would recommend using Oruxmaps on your smartphone for navigation (it's free but I paid a few dollars to get the updated version and support the dev because he really deserves it). Then if you learn to use Mobile Atlas Creator you will be able to create your own offline maps and load them on Oruxmaps.
That allows me to get the best topographic maps (like IGN for France where I'm from or Swisstopo for Switzerland for example) on my smartphone with no internet required. These are the real maps that you want for what we're doing because they have all the water fountains, springs, small rivers etc on them (and usually they have the best paths mapping).
What I also do is that I plan my trips on Komoot, export the gpx (waypoints) file on Mobile Atlas Creator, put markers on all the water fountains and springs that are on/close to my route and export the markers as a gpx file that I then import on Oruxmaps (alongside the gpx route from Komoot). What I have then is my route with tons of sources of water to choose from on it, that way you don't have to worry about finding water while you're on the ride, you've already planned that when you were at home (but then of course if you need to you can still find them by yourself thanks to the nice topographic map).
Tell me if you guys have any questions.
