It's been a little while since I last updated on this. A little preoccupied with other tasks, but I figure it's just at the growing stage, so frequent updates don't seem to be necessary. Anyways,
Week 9 // Day 63
Growth on the main plant is coming along strongly and well. I'm extremely happy that it has done so. Unfortunately, the other guys aren't do so swell comparatively, as you can see. One of them actually died. He was literally clinging to life by a thread for the longest time until just one day, the sun was too much for him and he literally shriveled up and died within hours. I could almost watch it in real time. RIP lil' buddy. So anyways, it's just those three fellows now, one of which is also literally growing deformed. Hey, he's still alive, he's a fighter. Let's see how he turns out.
In any case, I've decided ultimately that I won't be using my main plant as a harvesting one. In fact, because he's doing so well but also because of the scarcity of plants I've reached here, he is going to be my progenitor plant of which I will allow to bloom and harvest the seeds from. That way I won't be wanting for more and have to spend more money for the absolutely paltry amount you normally receive. I'll probably do that for several cycles so I have a good amount to sow at any time.
Also I did take Anon's advice and restricted the watering schedule now and have thus far seen no adverse effects. First I watered every 48 hours for about a week, then I switched to every 72 hours (which is where I'm at right now), and after one more watering on Thursday, I will extend it to every 4 days, and then perhaps 5 after that. The soil is retaining water extremely well, but it seems to accumulate down towards the lower half of the pot. But...I did observe this morning that the soil was in fact dry all the way down to my second knuckle, so it's actually quite clear that the roots are extending down deep if this is the case. I'll find what the limits are moving forward.
