>>429692I like the design ( model 1 design ) just because of all the knives I have handled it is by far superior for the taste I have.
I like longer knives (7, 6 inches) and like the military design. Of all of them any model 1 is , as I say, much more comfortable and chokeable than the rest. It is my favourite knife design.
As for the /out/ tasks, I figured I'd have an axe or a woodsaw so the batoning is pretty much discarded (which could also do, considering even an opinel does the job on emergencies), and so the thinner blade would not be much of a problem. Of course I know a recon tanto or an SRK (why bother buying an SRK if Fallkniven A1s exist?) is a much more rugged knife.
Back edges are no problem if you're not going to baton and if it has a hilt. I find model 1s comfortable even with hilt.
I just dont really know (and would like to) if I have any alternatives that are not Bark River or Randall (or CS's Military Classic)
The ODA seems about right in price and design for a utilitarian knife, what bothers me the most is the thickness.
