Welp decided to try rows this year instead of raised beds, got them mostly done yesterday, mixed in most of my compost and used a little bit of the leftovers as a top dressing. Today I’ll put down my mulch and the irrigation lines. I’ll probably plant this Friday. This year I’m going to use some leftover wire and attach it to the fence on the left side to trellis my cucumbers and squash. We typically get plenty of rain all summer but for dry spells (like last year) I decided to drive in a shallow sand point well, I use the pitcher pump to fill the rain barrel, which is hooked to a basic drip system. I’ve got a shallow well pump that I may get around to hooking up, not sure if the well is deep enough and I’d have to think about running power out to it.. not sure if I want to bother with it right now. I started a few seedlings but I’ve been lazy so far and I’m just going to plant mostly from seed, it’s been a warm spring (zone8a) so I’m not too worried about starting a bit late.
