I harvested another 1/2 pound of strawberries this morning to. They are an awesome finsher for a breakfast of kale, romaine, and lamb's quarter.
>>325457Where I live, gusts of wind just hammer things flat. 1/4 the roof of a barn flew past my house and landed in the river behind my house a couple years ago (2010 derecho). The barn is massive and that section is larger than my 2-story house.
Make a raised bed over your garden plot and put in a good soil mix. It's 100% better than trying to amend bad soil and they are so easy to work with. Just don't make them wider than what you can reach into halfway from either side comfortably.
Runners from strawberry plant themselves. Just put a small pot of good soil under them and they'll root right into it. After a couple weeks cut off the tether to the original plant. 1 plant can become 50 to 100 new plants in a single year if it is taken care of really well. It's really amazing.
