People in the fur trade don't tend to sell bear and other game animal fur because of that. Instead they trap the distinct class of 'furbearer' species. In Alaska that's probably marten, Fisher, beaver, lynx and wolf. Fur prices are at all time lows currently, but it definitely is still possible to make a few grand on it a year for supplemental income.
I trap a bit in the Northeast, but don't sell my pelts, I tan them myself and make shit out of them. If you have any craftsman skills you can make and sell those things and make a fuckton more money than selling raw pelts.
