I wouldn't start hopping without someone who knows what they're doing. Where ya leaving from?
I have a couple stories.
>Heading west out of Selkirk
>Hang out at hop out, no luck there
>Say fuck it and start hitching towards yard.
>First guy who drives by stops to pick us up(3 kids one dog)
>Dude works used to work for CSX and drives us right into the middle of the yard and shows us where our train is.
>Creep through tall grass about 200ft to get to our train.
>Find a reefer and hop on
>Lay there waiting for our train to leave
>Airs up
>Start drinking celebratory beer
>Stops right in front of yard office with a trucks headlights pointing at our car
>Fuck
>Thank fuck we pull away
>Rains on us all night
>Train stops in Buffalo right in front of laundry mat
>Dry all our shit
>Hang out for a day or two
>Goto hop out and get on 2 back-to-back miniwells
>Somewhere in the middle of Ohio our train stops
>My boyfriend gets out to check and see if there's piggy backs on our train(if there were we wouldn't be stop in North Baltimore, a huge intermodel facility)
>Train airs up
>Starts picking up
>We figure he got on another ride behind us.
>Hour later we get a text from a random number
>He got left 80 miles outside of Cleveland
>Going to catch a bus to Chicago
> We roll into South Chicago the next day and have to carry all his gear, walk a dog and carry a guitar
>He finally shows up on the bus at like 12 that night
> Goto catch the el to our friends place and it just stopped running
>Napped on the el platform
Not too exciting I know.
