As for Hultafors, I've heard mixed things. The main thing seems to be quality control issues. If you get a good one its great but some lemons slip through the line from time to time.
Also another brand to think about, for the budget conscious would be Condor Tools. Their QC has stepped up the past couple years. They're a bit hit or miss... but for the price you get a piece of steel that could be sold for twice what they're selling them for. Pic related. Condor Tool and Knife Greenland Pattern.
