>You hiked to an interview? Long story long: I had an interview in a remote village 450km from where I lived last year. I didn't hitchhike to go there because I couldn't miss this opportunity so I took a bus and a train.
It's on the way back that I hitchiked. Why not take the train you ask ? Well, my manager at the time was very kind to me and gave me a unique chance when he hired me; he needed someone to represent our service and meet the big boss during a ceremony the day just after my interview (not the one where he hired me, another), and he wanted me to do it because he thought I best fit the role. It was the perfect opportunity to show him my gratitude but no train or bus could take me there on time - I looked, hard. So I walked 4 fucking hours at night in the rain after my interview, then hitchhiked my way back home and met the big boss and satisfied my boss.
>You prayed.. on the side of the road? No, I literally prayed.
Here in France there are a lot of picnic tables on the side of small roads between towns and villages. There was no mosque and the next village was 1 hour away, so I prayed right there under a tree. That's when the old couple took me for a Syrian refugee and pulled over.
