I spent many weekends after doing some finish work, like finishing the siding, doing some roughmoulding, weather-sealing, etc.
My dad gave me a ventless propane heater which is awesome for the fall and winter. The wood walls really hold the heat.
Also added the large, insulated window which I found at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Had to rip out a wall and build a header, which was fun to do actually. Used a Stihl 192 for the rough cutting this time around, and used circular saw for the fine cuts back at the cabin.
Should also add (pic related) my dog kept me in good company throughout the building process. She also got skunked and porcoupined in the time building it.
Other construction notes:
Sheetshingle'd the roof and used individual shingles for the peak.
Probably half materials were repurposed. Only the structural wood was purchased, along with the inside siding.
Any questions, just ask, I'm sure I blew past a lot of details.
I couldn't tell you the budget because I lost track. But lol@me telling my dad I had a $200 budget going in because "I already had the siding." Probably around $1500 is my estimate.
