>>108127Greeting fellow Ar/k/ansan. You are indeed right, we have some of the finest waterfowling land on the planet. I frequent Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge down here in LA (Lower Arkansas). This was the absolute best season I've had, despite the weather being rather warm all winter. I got tore up by mosquitos in early January. It was miserable. Make sure you get a quality flashlight, I use a headlamp by cabelas. Its great. You need it to shine other people off in the morning so they dont get too close.
>>108341Listen to this guy. Double reeds are easier for beginners no doubt. I have a duck picker and love it. I do hate its bright orange though. Start with the basic quack, get it down then advance to the other calls (hail, feeding, etc.) Honestly I can't do the feed call worth shit, I cant move my tongue fast enough.
>>108217I don't own a boat. I wake up at 2:45 am drive 45 minutes, gear up, then walk around 3 miles with waders, decoys, gun, shells, and a bag.
Please OP, don't skybust. Learn to id the max distance you can shoot and be effective. There were way too many skybusters out this year. We don't need any more.
Any questions you might have, I am willing to answer.
