Physical/mineral sunscreens (aka zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, even though zinc oxide is a much more effective UV blocker) don't absorb through the top layers of skin, and even if they do get into the body, they're basically completely inert. Pic related.
Zinc sunscreens are safer but the downsides are they're harder to spread, leave a white tint on your skin (because it's literally zinc oxide powder suspended in oil), and they're much harder to clean off. But they last longer since they don't break down in the sun, unlike chemical sunscreens, so that's a catch 22. Pic related is what I've been using but I'm going to try a few different ones to see what works best.
