>>471448Of course it's viable. Given your requirements I would also suggest the air force standard issue survival knife. It's less tacticool, but cheaper and IMO more practical. The Kabar Mark 1 is also an option. I prefer the rounded leather or rubber handles on the above knives to the squared plastic handles of the Becker knives, and the pommels are actually useful for general utility tasks.
Also, the Becker and ESEE knives have exposed steel all the way around the knife between the grip halves which will freeze to your hand if you are unlucky enough to have to use the knife in cold conditions without gloves.
ESEE knives are a fashion accessory for rich white kids with apocalypse fantasies. They're perfectly good, but ludicrously expensive and not superior in any real-world practical way.
