Somebody mentioned that it gets hot and their metabolism speeds up so they burn a lot more energy when doing any activity so they stay deep in cooler water and wait for really easy meals. That's why it is hard to hit the bass on spinners and crank baits but they will go for slow worms and creature baits.
Even if you can find them down in a channel or wherever, you probably have to get the right bait with a perfect presentation and run it right past them.'
With all that being said, I have been hitting most of my decent sized bass in the summer right around dusk. A lot of time I put 1/2oz on the memecaster and launch it out deep to get to them. Otherwise I will hit them on the deep side of a drop off, often drop offs just past shallow weed beds.
