Lets estimate for example, that you could easily spend at least $20 / day on food/livin expenxes. I think this is a reasonable estimate and my be too conservative. but I'l start with that.
$20/day x 30 days is approx. $600/month to feed yourself on the road. that wont be anything too fancy mind you. not much room in that budget for splurging and eating out at restaurants when you get to a town. and that probly wouldn't include lodging/travel expenses.
you goanna do a summer of 3 month walking tour or really go a whole year,
3 monthes x $600 = $1800
12 monthes x $600 = $7200
OP it would be risky to launch a journey based on this with out further planning but im going to say roughly you will probly want at least $10k at your disposal for a full year of travelling on foot and eating cheap with room in budget for unexpected and incidentals.
half a year i'd say minimum $5k
