I have about 15 acres that I intend to fill with poultry, goats, cows, and the like. I bought a Great Pyranees pup with the intention of him being the livestock guardian. However, I don't have the livestock just yet and hes right now just staying in the house growing up.
By the time I have livestock (probably just poultry initially) ready to guard, he will probably be 7-9 months old. My concern is that he isn't spending time with livestock and bonding with them outside. He's only bonding with me inside.
My question is, will he still be able to bond with livestock and be the protector dog I want, even staying outside at night, if hes mostly growing up inside without livestock? Can he still learn that stuff despite not bonding with them as a puppy?
