>>1552646I freeze 5+lbs of lean, roast cuts when theyre on sale, slize frozen, let marinade in home made teriyaki sauce over night in the fridge, and then dehydrate at 160 degrees for about 8 hours, rotating trays half way through.
I have an expensive, higher volume dehydrator, but you can get a smaller one for $20 on amazon or walmart.
It's one of the most cost effective things I do. Jerky is easily $10+/LB, way more than that if you buy the smaller bags.
Sometimes I luck out and I'm given fresh deer or beef from a friend, otherwise I can get about 5 lbs of jerky for $25 worth of meat, and the rest of it costs me almost nothing.
The Jerky never lasts long, because it tastes really good. It wont be the best you've ever had, but it will be close. Best jerky for the price, absolutely.
Deer jerky is done the exact same way, but I prefer it peppered flavor over teriyaki, due to the gaminess.
