I am looking for a canoe to take my gf and dog out on the water with. I already have a kayak and I stick to calm small lakes, but she wants to go out on the water with me instead of just fishing from shore. I am looking for a used one so that I spend a fortune. Im looking at a pretty vintage 17 foot fiberglass (in extremely good condition) or a 17 foot grumman aluminum. They are both the same price. I dont have a trailer hitch, but I may be forced to install one for the canoe. I will not ask my gf to help me put the canoe on the roof of my vehicle because she is tiny and not particularly strong. Is it feasible to try to try to put either of these on the roof by myself?
