>>1618542The lakes are definetly the easiest place to get to with public transport. It's a shame though as the Snowdonia is beautiful, it's a royal pain to get there. Both are ~4 hours drive from me which I don't mind doing from time to time.
The trains up to the lakes can be surprisingly cheap.
Also if you don't know use splitmyticket to buy train tickets. It'll usually save you 10-20 pounds per which adds up over time.
