>>1150976>>1150976>Lake>>1150976if we are talking sailing i think sunfish is pretty much everyone's first learn to boat boat. even the best most experienced sailors love going gout in a sunfish and its pretty easy to sail yourself. you will need a trailer or buoy. I would start with sailing lessons (note the plural) before you buy a sunfish though. just so he can learn how to rig, tac, etc. if we are talking Christmas gifts-- get him a book of private lessons. if it sticks you will hear about boats he likes.
i personally am a big fan of kayaks and you don't need a trailer or buoy. its hard to make a recommendation because you gotta know more about what he wants. I like a closed long narrow and pointed kayak. some people who fish a lot prefer open wide and shorter. i would not order a kayak off amazon or a website without seeing it first there is a ton of shit at too good to be true prices. now that its winter a lot of the larger volumes outfitters/outdoor stores will be having tent sales on kayaking stuff and kayaks.
canoes are okay, fuck rowboats.
two people kayaks are fun. here is me getting my tuskin raider on in my favorite kayaking conditions.
