Since you need a few variations of the same lure as part of normal fishing, I make 1,000s of lures and flies each year. In the winter, I can't garden because I've not built a greenhouse yet. Thus, my indoor hobbies pay for everything. Fly tying and lure making is only one thing. I don't sell the flies, since there's no market in that due to China. Lures are the only thing you can really make money with in the USA. Since I am also a subsistence fishermen, making my own gear is necessary.
