Try to let three to four people who are very close to you know where you plan to be, the trails you're going to be on and when you should be back. Don't post about it on social media or tell anyone but those trusted people. Most murders or rapes are commited by people the victim knew. You don't want to let that potential person know that youre going to be alone in the middle of the wild.
I always carry several spare batteries and a gps tracker. I use the garmin foretrex and it's never let me down. Try to get in the habit of sending out your coordinates when you can.
Don't let other hikers you meet know where youre going to sleep. Don't light a fire at night or broadcast where youre sleeping. It sucks but it is what it is.
Any other advice i can give you is just general trail safety and isn't specific to gender.
