This summer, I did a 5-day trip, where one of the days had about 2000' of elevation gain in less than 2 miles, off-trail and doing our own route-finding. I had a 35 pound pack, loaded up for 7-8 days, although to be fair to your seasonality, my winter insulation would have added about 7 pounds to that if I'd brought it. I don't do snow/glacier mountaineering, so I'm not sure how much your gear weighed, but I do know a number of people who do all sorts of mountaineering in the backcountry - packing in multiple days' supplies plus gear - and none of them even own a backpack capable of carrying 70 pounds of stuff.
