1.) Paper towels. Yes, paper towels. When you cut your finger and it's bleeding pretty well, is the first thing you grab a bandaid? Ointment? Wound dressing? No, the first thing most people are going to do is clamp a clean cloth (or whatever that is clean and absorbent) until the bleeding stops or slows down. I keep about 10 paper towel sheets in a sealed, compressed, plastic bag.
2.) Wound wash. I use something that has benzalkonium chloride. It worked so well the wounds never even become inflamed and healed far faster than untreated wounds. This is great for getting the dirt out too.
I just don't know why virtually no one includes these two items in their medical packs. I'm glad I added those two items because they definitely came in handy more than once.
