>>1562316Im just now in a process of doing this. I have 10 5gal grow bags that I plan to put on top of 20cm diameter pipe that would hold water and has float valve to automatically keep the level of water...
I'm just trying to find the right wicking material.. cotton apprerently does it good but i didn't find that to be true... I have floor cleaning mats (80% cotton, 20 poliester) that I cut into strips and hanged in a bucket.. they wick up like a few cm of water, not even out of the hole in the bucket lid.. tried hemp rope, tried untwist it too, not good (I think its impregnated with some oily supstance). Tried some old cotton t-shirt, also not good, barely came out of the lid hole.. it has just like 6cm of vertical travel to do and I can't seem to find a solution for this...
I found some guy on yt, did exactly the same thing, pipe, float valve, cotton rope that he untwisted into bunch of smaller twines, they wicked so much water in the lid he has under the grow bags that's unbelievable...
Please do say if you find any good and cheap material to do it with...
