>>924381>>924376It depends more on size and color of the hardware than just being able to see the hardware. The wrong color can put off a fish or attract it. Try to match your hardware color with your lure color if possible. Another problem can be the profile. If the color of the hardware makes the lure look misshapen then the fish may disregard the lure entirely.
An example is using a large barrel snap swivel that just happens to look like a large eye to the fish, even though you don't really see it as such. An "eye" that large may spook your target fish or even attract far larger fish.
The first thing I do is change hardware color. Normally, there's only silver, brass, and black. Using the smallest hardware you can find or make is also good as it won't impact things as much if it is the wrong color.
