Will likely climb up a ridge first and then very slowly stalk down onto a sunny face. The last fallow I got in the area was a young one, and I found her because she barked and I followed the noise as quietly as I could, like 3 steps a minute kind of slow and quiet. Eventually I saw a suspiciously deer-like shape between the trees ~50m away and that is when I took the shot. Found the blood splatter (pic related) and tracked a bit until I found the carcass.
The deer in this particular area are hunted almost every day. It is divided up into blocks, and hunters get assigned blocks for specific dates through a ballot system. They are really quicky sneaky fucks. Usually I end up scaring them away because I don't see them until I am about 20m close and they crash away into the unseeable distance. When the wind swirls, pretty sure many other get scared away but I never heard them. Still trying to get better, only managed to get three deer so far.
