The Norlund hatchet is missing the handle completely (my dad probably busted it years back doing yard work)
and while the True Temper axe has a handle, it's not the correct one; the handle is too wide to fit the eye in the
axe head and dad did a half-ass job of trying to make it fit (the axe head would likely fly off into the woods if used).
What I'd like to do, is clean the light surface rust off of them and get a black oxide finish for both, then have them
sharpened correctly with new handles installed and get new leather sheaths made (a belt sheath for the hatchet
would be cool).
From the bit of on-line research I've done, they appear to be top-of-the-line quality American made tools that have
been out of production for decades.
Found a guy here in Michigan who restores / sells old axes (

rather not drop a ton of money on having someone do it for me, if I can do it myself, though I might be willing to
pay for the new handles and installation.
