I just started kayaking. I bought a $25 raft from Walmart to start out to see if I even enjoyed being out there, then I bought this $250 Sea Eagle inflatable kayak. I really want to get one with foot rests, drop stitch flooring and enough room to take my dog. I have been taking my dog with me in this and it works well, but there are no foot rests to get better balance and leverage.
I haven't tried a sit on top kayak yet. I wonder what they're like. I can't get a hard kayak at the moment, only inflatable or maybe foldable are practical right now. I haven't tried a kayak where there is a small, closed cockpit. I am concerned about setting my dog on top of the kayak instead of down in with me.
Any recommendations? I am looking at the Advanced Elements advancedframe ones and the Aquaglide Chinook, as well as considering the $165 Sevylor quikpak sit on top kayak.
