and living on your own 100% is never easy
but ancient peoples did have it easier exactly because they were not alone but lived with family groups or small communities
maybe only living 100% on their own for a few months of the year to hunt game or trap for furs

none of the people there are these romantic Victorian mountain men living alone in the wilderness, the one guy there even says his first trip out into his trapping territory was hell because even though he was experienced he was completely blown away bu the trials he faced, and even then he only lived there for one seasons trapping before being taken back
now he has his village and family up the river and years of experience under his belt to teach his sons, making it a lot more comfortable and enjoyable
you can never just pick up some urbanite and drop them in the woods with no community or generational experience, they would die or at least have a shit time
but provided the small community and generations of passed on learning is there, a human would most definitely be far more at ease than in our current lives
