I've priced up the cost of materials to build a 3m x 6m cabin here in Australia (as long as the council doesn't rip it down). $6k (cost price for timber, I work at a timberyard).
The windows are all double glazed off the shelf, four 1200mmx600mm and two 900mmx600mm, the framing is h2f treated m12 and is insulated with the thickest insulation available. The roofing is iron and has twin gutters and a downpipe connected to a large tank (not included in the price)
the hot water is gas.
It has a living area/study/kitchen nook with a gas stove, sink and bar fridge using cabinets and a top from ikea.
A decent sized carpeted bedroom and a tiled ensuite with a shower, small basin and a dual flush toilet. The lighting will be 12v, and standard power points will be wired in but will be non functioning until a solar setup is installed.
What's not included in the price is a rainwater tank at 2k, a septic tank (not even sure how much) and the land... which I'd want to be not TOO isolated but is extremely expensive pretty much everywhere.
