I hunt so that's a given. I'll also bring a gun if I'm going to be alone in an area with grizzly bears (BC res) or if I'm going with someone who has their own gun.
I generally do not carry one during the winter, on backpacking trips with non gun owners, or in the southern third of the province if I'm on my own. It's a lot of extra weight and I don't enjoy the excitement/attention/change in focus it gives to non gunny but otherwise awesome trail buddies. It's just one more piece of gear that has its time and place.
