Saw a black panther (or jaguarundis or whatever, it was a big black cat) walk through the side of my yard when I was like five. I was playing on the porch and it was no more than thirty feet away, I have no idea how I am alive to type this right now.
This is in Middle Georgia, a lot of people say that they come from Florida.
Also saw underground hornet's nests on Pine Mountain while hiking with a friend, that was really neat.
Another time while camping we found fresh bear tracks uncomfortably close to our campsite, after waking up the first morning. We cooked fish right inside of our campsite (amateurs at the time).
Same camping trip we heard a flock of peacocks right outside of our campsite, too.
Georgia is pretty fantastic, I will always love this state.
