>>2326522>>2326521>>2326545I agree, done heaps of /out/ in NSW (Canadian originally) and camping feels way more European style because wild camping is illegal and everyone wants their 4wds. Massive parks and forests but only a few campsites in or near a lot of them that you pay for. Drove all the way out to Mungo national park, hundreds and hundreds of km to the nearest town or petrol station and we had to camp 20m away from several other families with their Utes, generators, music, and kids.
Not to say there aren't isolated walk in spots of course, but it can be a mission to find good ones.
