Never liked big finger guards on my bushcraft knives. I rarely find myself stabbing anything and if I do its not some sudden burst of action that would result injury from me not holding it properly.
I put blunt tips on a lot of my hiking knives or utility knives to prevent clumsy mistakes. At the end of the day you should give a sharp blade its due respect when using it and you'll be fine.
in a nutshell....I thing finger guards are designed for combat knives and not bushcraft blades. They just get in the way and make the harder to use.
look at legendary knives like the bk2 and regulat moras...or most reputable bushcraft designs and you see the lack of finger guards
