Yes, I thought they were bullshit also but a couple of years back a buddy bought one and we were sitting out on the back patio to try it out we could literally see mosquitos coming right at us, only to do a 180 and fly away when they got into the insect repellent “force field” generated by the gadget.
I bought one and use it for turkey hunting and fishing, clipping on the back of my chair or on the back of my pack when walking to/from my spot and for camping, I’ll unzip the door on my tent and flip it open and place the Thermacell on my cot and while I’m washing up and brushing my teeth before bed and it drives out any mosquitos that may have snuck into the tent during the day.
Only down side is it’s very useful in windy conditions but if you can place it up-wind of you, it’ll still work.
