>>266432yeah it's tricky for sure. i've been using pic related for like 10 years - light, simple, effective. not very sturdy though, and not great in any manner of weather. I'm not into having to string lines everywhere to hold the canopy up or try to put a tarp up over it. for that reason i upgraded to the DD jungle hammock (as i posted above). still side entrance but a lot more room and comes with all the treehuggers and slings you need. only 2 cords to mount it and no canopy to string up either (it uses those arch poles to hold the canopy up). plus it comes with a fitted rtarp that can go on the top or bottom (i bought an extra so i'd have both). it also doubles as a bivvy so you can sleep on the ground. the old one was fun and cheap, but i had to lug my own rope and dowels to make it work, and not being waterproof sucked as well. for what i want the cheapo was 4/10, the DD camping hammock and frontline are like 6.10, the jungle is basically 10/10 for my needs. a lot of people winter camp in it too which i'm keen to try as well
really the most important thing is bug net, but waterproof and general comfort are worth upgrading to at this point. the frontline/camping models DD makes don't have a fitted tarp so you have to rig something more complicated. i just went for the gold and hopefully don't regret it!
