I liked his early shows. He went from being a tacticool survival guy with military trainings and everything in the 90s to making TV shows to actually having something to say about being in the outdoors while respecting nature and tradition.
His survival angle can be a bit heavy, I prefer when he meets people from primitive cultures, or what counts for remains of them nowadays. His Wild Food series was incredible!
Oh wait- that's Ray Mears. No, Bear Grylls is a loud mouthed idiot who makes money slinging contrived pee drinking packaged as preparedness to gun toting morons who are drunk enough to watch his show. And I bet his gear is just a money grab.
