Did a solo lead up to this chimney/chute yesterday(there's another ten feet below the bottom of the frame)
The system I came up with started resticting me due to poor rope managment. It seemed to work fine for the first two solo leads, but bogged down with all the gear on my harness needed for this climb. It started to add a lot of friction, so much so that when I got up to the bottom of the chimney and clipped into a cam I was stuck and could barely move up, and couldn't unclip because I took up the slack when I clipped the piece. That led to a few minutes of mildly desperate futzing with the system so I could escape and down climb...which also was a mess since it was hard to pull out the slack as I down climbed. It was only 5.5 but some of the holds were rounded and insecure and the smears were all gritty. I worked out a solution to the problem and will test it on the next outing.
On a brighter note I ticked off a couple new boulder probs and managed to do a full pull-up on my door frame(20mm) which surprised the hell out of me since a year ago I couldn't even hang for a second.
Do any of you have a workout routine and goals etc.? It's all they seem to talk about on the /x/ thread(one of the reasons I couldn't stand it there), but no one mentions it at all here.
