I've spent many nights having just one poncho and it never bothered me. First off you're never perfectly dry wearing it alone for moisture condensation. Pitching it takes less than 10 minutes in most cases I would be under trees and have fire in front of it anyway
If I had to carry two tarps I would consider small tent instead which wins for me for any leisure activity, if I only have space for one item it would be tarp poncho because of it's versatility
