>>1216175>>1216222>>1216474It is a tough ascent that gives hikers the experience of a bushwack with the handicap of a semi-marked path. This coupled with a group working together to find their way up would make hiking up Kempshall Mt an excellent daytime activity for the meetup imo. Kempshall used to have a trail leading up to the top, but it has been decades since it was officially abandoned and many parts of it are not much of a trail at all.
Markers are present throughout the old trail, but most are very worn out and some are completely faded or missing. Before getting too steep, the trail follows a stream and this is where I saw some ‘recent’ maintenance. I saw some trees had been trimmed down. I can't say on how well the path was since everything was buried under 1-2 ft of snow. I also completely lost the trail shortly after it diverged from the NPT and just followed my map.
