>>1877495One last note on the term "pagan": to automatically assume this refers to Northern Germanic Paganism (Odin, Thor, Freyja et al) is foolish, when it simply refers to the rustic non-Christian traditions of... whoever in the world.
>>1877498I have not, but I've seen plenty of videos/read plenty of blog posts. Don't make the mistake of thinking Varg is a genuine neopagan, "heathen" type. I don't think he even has a shrine. Anyway, check this video out, he explains his position pretty clearly. I don't know if it's in this video or another one, but he once said something that stuck with me, along the lines of... "in paganism [i.e as we today may regard it], there is no God you kneel to and pray"; my take away is that paganism is not a religion (and it is not organised), it is rather the sum of a given culture's traditions and distinct way of interacting with the natural and spiritual worlds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBR9xmJYM-MI'm not sure what to make of his ideas about hamingja, reincarnation, the placenta... But the general "taking lessons from our traditions", "deities are keys/metaphors", I agree with.
